Kurt D. McCartney, MD, MPH

Staff Physician

Dr. McCartney is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) medical school. He is board certified in Aerospace Medicine after completing his Master’s of Public Health degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, and his residency at the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks AFB, TX.

He had over 26 years of experience in the Air Force before joining the AMAS staff, having served over 21 years as a flight surgeon. His fields of expertise are medical standards, aeromedical policy, and human factors. He served as Chief of Aerospace Medicine at Air Combat Command and the USAF Safety Center and as an exchange officer to the Royal Australian Air Force, responsible for tri-service Aeromedical policy. He joined Aviation Medicine Advisory Service in 2010.
