AnnMarie B. Stokes, MD

Staff Physician

Dr. Stokes graduated from University of Mississippi with degrees in Biology and Pharmacy.  She practiced pharmacy for several years and then returned to University of Mississippi Medical Center where she obtained a Medical Doctorate in 1993.  She completed an internship in Internal Medicine before reporting for assignment to USAF as a flight surgeon.    While in the USAF at Columbus AFB, she attended training programs including: aerospace medicine primary, high performance aircraft training (Top Knife), NASA/DOD space shuttle rescue, and combat trauma.  She flew in multiple aircraft, including AT38s, T37s, T1s, and F16s, in her role as a flight surgeon with Air Education Training Command.  She has a total of 8 years military service. 

After her time in the USAF, she returned to complete training in Family Medicine and is a board certified Family Physician by the American Board of Family Medicine since 2000.  She owned and operated her own clinics as a small minority business owner and has served as a medical director/consultant for several large manufacturers and local police/firefighters organizations.  Most of Dr. Stokes practice has been focused on occupational medicine, return-to- work issues, workers compensation care,  urgent care and small business management.  Throughout this time, she has continued with aviation medicine in the role as an FAA Senior AME for over 20 years and a HIMS AME since 2015.  Dr. Stokes has received training and certification in HIMS, Obesity Medicine, CLIA laboratory director, Independent Medical Examiner, Medical Review Officer, Breath Alcohol Instructor, DOT NRCME Examiner, wellness coaching, and Pharmacy.  She is an active member of American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and served as a contributor/committee member to revise ACOEMs position paper “Return to Work-Preventing Needless Disability”. 

Dr. Stokes also has a unique perspective as a spouse of a military/airline pilot for over 20 years.
